MLB Notables Make Their Trek West

MLB trades have been nothing less than exciting - especially in the 24 hours leading up to the deadline. While some notable trades were made in the east like Baez going to the Mets or the Yankees getting Rizzo, the west coast gained some equally notable players.

The Padres have been one of the best teams to watch this season (I say with only a little bias). Not only do they have enough personality for anyone watching, fan or not, to be entertained - they have played some amazing baseball. San Diego will only continue to deliver amazing baseball after acquiring Frazier from the Pirates.

Sitting first in the NL West (and NL overall), the SF Giants are going to remain at the top since adding Kris Bryant to their roster. He’ll make an impact as a “modern ballplayer”, utilized where needed in the Giants lineup, and as a third baseman who can play multiple positions which was a key factor for the Giants’ search since they’ve been without Evan Longoria since his collision with shortstop Brandon Crawford.

With their current spot as fifth in the AL, the A’s were looking to do what they could to help themselves hold on to their playoff position. Starling Marte from the Marlins just so happened to be who they felt was the best position player on the market.

Rounding out our notables - we couldn’t talk about the MLB west without touching on the Dodgers. To add to their already star-studded roster, the Dodgers acquired Danny Duffy from the Royals, and Trea Turner and Max Scherzer from the Nationals. Duffy is expected to be utilized as more of a dynamic multi-inning reliever while Turner and Scherzer serve as the third midseason blockbuster trade for the Dodgers over the last five years.

Since we’re talking about the west, I am obligated to use a picture from the last time I was at Petco.
