Just Like That… I Graduated

In my room, on a random Tuesday at noon I submitted my last exam (possibly ever) to conclude my undergrad!

Senior year was crazy - especially with Covid-19 thrown in the mix. While there was a lot going on at once over the last year, I’ve learned and grown more than ever.

I’ve learned, as I’m sure most have, just how important it is to be adaptable. Programs like Zoom and Microsoft Teams have been so important to keep classes, group projects, interviews, and so many more things going over the last year. Thankfully, being part of a younger generation made the transition online a little easier since I’ve already spent a good amount of time on my electronics.

Another lesson I learned over the last year was how important it is to take care of yourself. As hectic as everything has been in school, work, and personally, making sure I’m well myself has become my top priority. I don’t remember who told me or where I heard it but I always come back to: if you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t expect to be able to take care of others. Being someone who is always trying to make sure others are okay - that can be extremely draining especially if I’m not checking in on myself.

I think this last year was my best year in school because I put more of a focus on myself. Making sure I was eating to fuel my body, getting enough exercise and sleep, doing things I wanted to or not doing what I knew I didn’t want to - overall focusing on living my life for myself.

Life is too short to not be the main character in your life. And by focusing on yourself you’ll be the best version of yourself for those around you too.
